Otago Salt Traders have a mission! To Make Great, Hand crafted solar sea salt using Local natural and organic ingredients to give you the most amazing culinary choices.
Otago salt traders all natural solar sea salt is a labour of love. Our Salt is harvested from the pristine blue waters of new Zealand’s ocean in Marlborough on the south islands east coast using the age old process of evaporation with sun and wind.
 
We use a range of artisan processes to create rare, natural, exquisite products.

Pinot Noir
Smoked Sea Salt

A saturated brine of new Zealand organic central otago pinot noir, pure spring water, and Marlborough sea salt, is heated and evaporated in clay pans.

Chardonnay
Smoked Sea Salt

A saturated brine of new Zealand organic Central otago Chardonnay, pure spring water, and Marlborough sea salt, is heated and evaporated in clay pans.

Horopito
Smoked Sea Salt

Horopito is the New Zealand pepper tree. It is a truly unique taste. We collect horopito from the bush clad hills around Dunedin.

Manuka
Smoked Sea Salt

Our Manuka smoked salt is made by slowly smoking course Marlborough Sea salt. The salt gets a slow coating of Manuka smoke.

Zesty Kiwi Fruit
Solar Sea Salt

Organic Kiwi Fruit pieces are slowly dried until crisp. Course solar sea salt is infused with kiwi fruit juice and slowly dried.

HAVING SPENT twenty years working in both the new Zealand food and pharmaceutical industry, I decided to follow my passion for making exotic and rare solar salt blends and fusions.

Kimberley Wang, Salt Artisan
Kimberley is originally from central china and as a child her family made salt the traditional way using brine from a salt spring, heated and evaporated in clay pans to form exquisite crystals of pure salt.
